This marks a special homecoming for an event that has been part of New Zealand’s maritime story for nearly 50 years. Auckland first hosted the race in 1977–78, and since then has welcomed the world’s best offshore sailors 10 times. Kiwi legends such as Sir Peter Blake, Grant Dalton, Peter Burling, Blair Tuke, and Daryl Wislang have all made their mark in this iconic event. What to Expect in 2027 Ocean Live Park: A free two-week waterfront festival featuring boats, crews, entertainment, and sustainability showcases.
